ADVANCED SKILLS FOR LIFE

(Age:16+, English level B2+)

Suitable for students aged 16 years and over with a minimum English level of B2

Task-based communicative learning with a focus on acquiring functional language in preparation for further education and the world beyond.

Part 1: Classroom learning

Teaching sessions are 3.5 hours and consist of 3 lessons:
– Lesson 1 – 70 minutes (topic-based, communicative)
– Lesson 2 – 70 minutes (based on local area and excursions, communicative)
– Lesson 3 – 70 minutes (students’ choice project and presentation and/or targeted Trinity exam preparation)

Lessons are based on the communicative materials and focus on developing independent learning skills, presentation techniques, vocabulary building and retention, and exam strategies.

Part 2: Out of the classroom learning 

Two workshops a week to give students the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills and language in relevant contexts around academic English.

Part 3: Half and Full day excursions to local landmarks and attractions

ASL Course Aims and Objectives

ASL offers language and real workplace scenarios to develop English language and life skills for employability and workplace contexts

Students learn how to:

communicate confidently and effectively by using English in a variety of work situations

successfully apply for jobs and make work-related phone calls

analyse the rules and regulations of the modern workplace
